I remember Ken very well from my early days of teaching at Bayless -- he was always a joy to talk to. I'm not surprised at his choices of careers, or his successes; he was a GOOD young man who, it's clear, grew into an even better man. My deepest condolences to his entire family. He will be missed.

So sorry to hear about John. He did wonderful things for our son Ramón to maintain high honors in highschool. We often thought of him and his wife. Our loving prayers go out to all of you at this time of sorrow. Rest assured he was a man of God and is now home with our heavenly father.

Chris,
I am so sorry to hear of John’s passing. My years at Extension were enriched by working with John. He was able to inspire so many students with all of his knowledge. It never seemed like work with John. His love of science was contagious. He was a great mentor and coworker as well as a fellow Cardinal fan. I am so fortunate that I knew him. He will be missed.

My deepest condolences. John was a great man and someone I will always be thankful of having the pleasure to know and live next to. John took the time out of his busy work schedule to tutor me in math to help prepare me to enter the Air Force. Because of his tutoring, I was able to enlist to chase my passion and advance in the career that I have now. John Van Horn is someone I will always be grateful for. He is someone I will never forget!

We were blessed to have John and Chris and Nina as our next door neighbors for 17 years! John and I shared many conversations about our roses and our flowers. He was an avid gardener like me. We talked politics and military. My son is currently serving. We talked and played with our dogs! If we ever needed anything, John and Chris were always there! John was a man with a huge heart! He was so kind and always positive. I can picture John in heaven tending to the flowers and walking all the dogs. (Hug Valentine for me ❤️) God bless him and his sweet wife Chris and beautiful daughter and family he leaves behind.

John was my Life Group assistant in the Family Harvest Church weekly Bible study system for over 15 years. This group met in people's homes, following a set protocol of fellowship, worship, and then presenting a topic that was the focus for the week from the word of God. He was extremely knowledgeable in spiritual things and a very good friend. I appreciated his spiritual expertise and contributions immensely. His wife Chris and his mother Norma and aunt Eileen, and sometimes Nina would also come to the group and it truly became a family event! We had at one time 17 members in the weekly group which served to disciple people in the Word of God by following the examples of the life of Jesus Christ. Community outreaches including yearly back to school give aways of school supplies was a focus. I remember one specific time where there were so many donated school supplies that we had to use John and Chris's pool table in their home which was filled to at least 1 foot high and covered the whole table. We had backpacks donated and we as a group filled all these backpacks to give away to needy children! What a memory!
His dedication to his family, career, and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is a legacy. I will miss him but look forward to seeing him again in Heaven and rejoice with him over his rewards given for Faithfulness to fulfilling his destiny.
