Obituary of Robert L. O'Brien

Robert "Bob" L.  O'Brien, age 76, a longtime Streator, IL resident, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet.  He was born in Chicago on October 5, 1942 to the late William and Elaine O'Brien.

Surviving are his daughters, Sandy (Chuck Dean) Smith and Shelly (Tom) Pioth; grandchildren, Kevin (Christina) Smith, Kelsey Smith, Jordan Pioth and Brianna Pioth; great-granddaughter, Brooklynn Smith; sister, Elaine (the late Eddie) Walco; niece, Elizabeth Walco-Ybarra and her daughter Elena; niece, Carrie (Chris) Bowman and their children Bryce and Hayden.

He is preceded by his parents and his brother, William O'Brien.

Bob will be fondly remembered by his family as Choo-Choo grandpa because of his love for trains. Bob had a degree in culinary arts and loved to cook, his specialty was his homemade chicken soup, pickles and wine. He will be missed at all his favorite fishing spots.

Visitation for Robert L. O'Brien will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to  8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W.
