Obituary of Anthony Donald Shustar

Anthony Donald Shustar
“Tony”
August 7, 1962 – August 7, 2019

Tony Shustar, age 57, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2019 in Tomball, TX.  Outgoing, hardworking, and with a wonderful sense of humor, Tony will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  He is remembered as a generous spirit, always wanting to help others.

Tony was born in Berwyn, IL to Donald and Adrienne (nee Schubert) Shustar, and grew up in the Chicago area with his brother, Brian, graduating from Lyons Township High School.  He joined the U.S. Marines Corps in 1982.  As a U.S. Marine in the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines, Tony was an infantry weapons repairer, and was commended for his performance as the Battalion Armorer.  After serving in the USMC, he graduated from the police academy and joined the River Forest Police Department, where he served for 13 years.  As a police officer, he was promoted to Corporal, and was responsible for the supervision of shift officers and dispatchers.  As a field training officer, he was responsible for training new police officers.

In 1994, he married Ronda Connolly and became a father to her daughter, Hannah.  After retirement as a police officer, Tony worked as a general contractor, remodeling homes and businesses, where he applied his attention to detail and pride in a job well done for his clients.  He then spent many years as a maintenance supervisor for senior living facilities.

Tony’s hobbies included a passion for cars and motorcycles, and he enjoyed buying and fixing up vintage cars and attending car shows.  He relaxed on long drives on sunny days, listening to music and enjoying the breeze.  Tony was extremely handy and could fix almost anything around the house, and usually had at least one home improvement project going at any time.  He loved being a father to Hannah, practicing sports with her, teaching her to ride a bike and to drive a car.  Tony and Hannah always enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears play.  Tony was active in church groups and attended several mission trips with his daughter Hannah.  He also dedicated his own time to repair homes in areas of poverty and areas affected by hurricanes.

In 2018, Tony and Ronda moved to Tomball, TX.  They enjoyed the warm and sunny weather, walking their dog, Pete, and exploring the Texas outdoors.  Tony is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ronda Connolly Shustar; daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Henry; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Karen Shustar; and his nephews, Stephen, Tony and Branden.
