Obituary of John Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald, John L. "Fitz" Age 76, of Joliet and formerly of Woodridge, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at Meadowbrook Manor in Bolingbrook. Born February 22, 1936 in Pleasant Plains, IL, he was the son of the late John and Mary (nee Clark) Fitzgerald. A U.S. Air Force veteran, he served in the Korean Conflict from 1954-1962. He was a graduate of Lewis University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. Fitz was an avid pilot and flying was the absolute love of his life. He worked for over 20 years as a service technician, but later was able to teach flying and maintain aircraft for J.F. Aviation in Joliet. Survived by his children, Karen (Frank) Schwantes, Pam (Tom) Spradau, Janet Messina, Kevin Fitzgerald, Vicki (Mike) Kugach and Shawn Fitzgerald; nine grandchildren, Tyler and Jamie Schwantes; Anthony, Tara and Nicholas Cassidy; Alanna, Mikayla and Emily Messina; and Bethany Kugach; two brothers, Glen (Pat) Fitzgerald and Kenny (Pam) Fitzgerald; several nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Patricia Fitzgerald. Funeral Services for John L. Fitzgerald will be Friday, August 24, 2012 at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
