Pete was a wonderful person whom I had the pleasure of being with during our mass service at the nursing home. Bev and I enjoyed listening to his stories and being with him. So full of life and never complained of anything.
My sympathies to the family during this time.

My condolences to Pete's family and to Mary, Ann, Jane, Bill and families. Great times at Stastny's when the Donovans came to visit. Heaven hasn't been the same since Pete arrived.

We will truly miss Uncle Pete. He was a man of morals and principles, but also a natural storyteller. We always enjoyed listening to his stories about Mike's dad, especially the one when they were on a raft together in New Lisbon that was going to tip over. Uncle Pete said that he knew Mike's dad wasn't the strongest swimmer, and he told him that he had to jump. Uncle Pete grabbed Mike's dad just as the raft capsized, saving his life. You always knew how much he truly loved Mike's dad. We find comfort in the fact that they are both together, enjoying each other's company in heaven. We will always love you, Uncle Pete! There was a time when the Donovans would come to Grandpa Ed's in New Lisbon, WI, summers until the older ones started getting summer jobs, and the visits were less often. The BEST memories for me of Pete (who was 10 yrs older) were at mealtimes, when the adults ate in the big dining room & we cousins, (the "kids") all gathered around the big table in the kitchen. How lucky to be eating with Pete because he sure made it a fun time. Regardless of our ages he had us laughing almost continuously. I like to think he is having a great family reunion, and heaven is filled with laughter!! Pete was a very special guy!

I lived just a few doors down from Pete on 72nd Place on the South Side. Played a lot of sports out on the street. We went to St Laurence grammar school and graduated together from De La Salle high school in 1953. I went on to make a career in the Air Force and retired in Virginia in 1985.
Rest In Peace, Pete.
