Obituary of Edward Flanigan

Edward Joseph Matthew Flanigan "Flan" Age 45. Peacefully Friday, December 5, 2008 was called home to be with his Lord, with his family by his side. Born in Chicago, he was raised in Manhattan, and was a Joliet resident for the past 20 years. A graduate of Providence Catholic High School Class of 1981. Edward was a carpenter by trade. He was an avid Chicago sports team enthusiast. Edward was an avid runner and even while he was afflicted with his illness, he continued to run and finish marathons. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 19 years, Leslee M. (nee Voigts) Flanigan of Joliet; three daughters, Meagan, Erin and Kathleen Flanigan; two sons, Edward and Liam Flanigan all of Joliet; his parents, Edward and Ellen Flanigan of Manhattan; six brothers, Mark, Patrick (Amanda), Matthew (Melissa), Martin, Joseph and Brian Flanigan; five sisters, Elizabeth (Rob) Yacobi, Ellen (Robert) Tynor, Kathleen (Dan) Penwitt, Maureen Flanigan and Mary Anne Flanigan; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren, in-laws, and friends also survive. Funeral Services for Edward Joseph Matthew Flanigan will be Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home chapel to the Cathedral of St. Raymond Nonnatus for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the National Cancer Research Center or the Edward Flanigan Family Trust c/o Standard Bank would be appreciated.
