I regret I am unable to attend the visitation today for Byron Lee.
I knew him at the College of St. Francis for many years where he served on the Board of Trustees. For much of my thirty years there, I was a member of the faculty.
However, for five years I directed an off-campus program that allowed registered nurses to complete their education and gain a bachelor's degree. The following five years, I was the academic dean. In these two positions, I routinely attended the meetings of the Board of Trustees. Thus, I came to know the fine qualities Bryon Lee possessed. Always polite, always pleasant, such a pleasure to know, yet at the same time always fully engaged in the issues and challenges before the Trustees and the College. Time and again, I saw him give us vital leadership. He was truly a remarkable man, and I mourn his passing.
