Obituary of Julie Fogarty
Fogarty, Julie Lynn
Age 49, of La Salle, passed away Thursday November 10, 2011 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Julie was born November 26, 1961 at Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, IL to Carl and Janice (Schabinger) Cherrie. She married Randy Lafferty in 1981 and remarried Richard Fogarty in 1994.
Julie graduated from Princeton High School in 1979 and attended Illinois Valley Community College where she received a degree in Nursing in 1981. She worked for OSF St. Francis Hospital and St. Margaret Hospital until 1994. In 1995, Julie opened Wash-N-Wag in La Salle. She served the area for over 15 years as a well respected dog groomer.
She loved animals from a very early age, especially cats. She is survived by her two "girls", Bunny and Bitsy. Her hobbies included auction hunting, collecting antiques, refinishing furniture, restoring lamps, and home renovation. Julie was a talented artist and accomplished guitarist.
Survivors are one daughter, Erin (Scott) Cooper of Shorewood; one son, Ryan Lafferty of Bourbonnais; two sisters, Jody (Jeff) Gordon of Vermont and Jamie Rediger of Princeton; one nephew, Kyle Moran of Vermont; one niece, Lindsey Rediger of Princeton; two grandchildren, Lily and Colin Cooper of Shorewood; and companion, Jim Blum of Oglesby.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Graveside services for Julie Lynn Fogarty will be Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Valley Animal Rescue (IVAR). Arrangements by:
