Obituary of Maria Elena Vazquez

Age 70, of Joliet,IL passed away Friday December 13, 2019 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center.  She was born August 17, 1949 in Mexico to the late Maria Reyes and Felix Vaquez.

Beloved wife of Antonio Alvarez Sanchez; loving mother of Maria Magdalena (Julio) Vazquez, Fernando (Min) Vazquez, Cesar (Maria) Verdin, Marino (Elvira) Verdin, Maria Elena Verdin and Edwin (Cecilia) Verdin; dearest sister of Jose Manuel (Beatrice) Vazquez, Ruben (Marisus) Vazquez, Imelda (Jaime) Guzman, Teresa Vazquez, Anita (Moises) Guzman and Guillermo Vazquez. Maria was also a very proud and devoted grandmother and great grandmother.  She also will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maria will be lovingly remembered for her hospitality, her love of family and her desire to feed everyone often.  Her home was the family gathering place and if you left there hungry you had no one to blame but yourself. Her specialties, Birria and Arroz con leche are often imitated, but sadly will never be duplicated. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Maria will be Wednesday, December 18, 2019 from 3 – 8 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet.  Funeral services Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:00 a.m from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S.
