Richard J. Welch
Richard J. Welch passed away at the age of 84, at Joliet Area Community Hospice on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. Richard was born in Joliet, IL on November 3, 1935, the son of Leon T. and Susan (Craynik) Welch. He was a graduate of Joliet Catholic High School, Class of 1953 Richard was a proud veteran serving as a Corporal with the United States Marine Corps. He received the National Defense Service Medal.
Richard is survived by son, Duke Welch; daughter, Vicky; and numerous grand children.
He is preceded by his wife, Mary T. Welch and his parents, Leon and Susan Welch.
As it was the request of Richard J. Welch, cremation rites have been accorded. Family and friends are invited to meet for interment on Friday, December 20, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20634 W. Hoff Rd., Elwood, IL. where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Marine Corps and the Abraham Lincoln National Memorial Squad. Arrangements have been handled under the care and guidance of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd., Joliet, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to St. Mary Immaculate Parish, 15629 IL-59, Plainfield, IL 60544, would be appreciated.
