Obituary of Luke R. Barrera

Passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the age of 24, raised in Sandwich, IL. Luke graduated from Sandwich H.S. in 2014 where he took automotive technology classes. Since 2015, Luke lived in Plainfield, IL and worked in the construction field. As a kid, Luke was a kindhearted, high-energy boy who always had spare change for the Ronald McDonald House donation box. As an adult, Luke was an incredibly generous soul who friends and family could count on for help. Luke loved family gatherings, spending time with friends and loved his pets. He enjoyed putting a smile on the faces of everyone he knew. He is survived by his mother, Karen Kus of Plainfield, IL, his father, Rene Barrera of Nebraska, two brothers, Zach Barrera of Malta, IL and Ethan Barrera of Plainfield, IL, maternal grandparents, Richard and Barbara Kus, paternal grandparents, Jose (Maria) Barrera and Rose Sanchez, numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded by his aunt, Donna Valskis, two uncles Roy Godinez and Roland Barrera. Visitation for Luke will be Saturday, December 28, 2019 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rds., Joliet from 4:00 p.m. until time of funeral services at 7:30 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following services.
