Sister Regina Marie Anson, OSF Sister Regina Marie Anson, OSF died peacefully at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home on September 14, 2009. A native of Joliet, IL, she was the first child born to William and Regina (Hennessy) Anson. She is survived by one sister, Marjorie (Herbert) Nelson of Joliet. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Reverend William Anson, C.S.V and her sister, Marilyn Taylor. Sister Regina Marie was a treasured member of the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate (Joliet) for 69 years. Before entering religious life, Sister Regina Marie (Ione) Anson was a member of St. Raymond Parish., Joliet. She attended St. Raymond Grade School and graduated from St. Francis Academy. In February, 1940 she entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate. She received her Bachelor's Degree at the College of St. Francis (now the University of St. Francis) in Joliet and her Master of Education Degree from De Paul University. In 1942 Sister began a career of educational ministry that lasted over 50 years. Sister taught in elementary schools in Ohio and Illinois. In 1961 she became principal of St. Bernard School in Joliet. From 1963 until 1972 she was principal of St. Pius X School in Lombard, IL. She is best remembered for her ministry at the University of St. Francis, Joliet, where she served as an Assistant Professor in the Education Department and Resident Director for twenty-one years. For the last 7 years she has been a resident at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home where her final years have been devoted to prayer and community service. The wake will be at Our Lady of Angels Retirement Home, 1201 Wyoming Avenue, Joliet, IL (Wyoming and Rt. 30) on Friday, September 18, 2009, from 2:00 - 6:45 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 4:45 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Procession will leave from Our Lady of Angels on Saturday morning, September 19, 2009, at 9:00 a.m. The Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Romeoville, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, 1433 Essington Road, Joliet, IL 60435. Arrangements by: FRED C.
