Helen was one of my favorite clients as an arborist. I loved walking her property in Lemont/Homer with her, arm in arm, discussing her beautiful oak trees. The slower the walk, the more I learned. I will always remember fondly our stories of Ordman's Park n Shop and her tales of when my mom was her beautician. She was a beautiful, vivacious soul and will be deeply missed. I will be sure to plant a tree in her memory this spring.

In the calendar -“A Year of Meditations and Reflections” for Women Who Do Too Much, I was struck by how these words in the following quotation by Meghan Markle on January 25, 2020 matched and paralleled the kind words of the posted Obituary to our dear Aunt Helen, as we always referred to her. The quote is: “Women don’t need a voice, they have a voice, and they need to feel empowered to use it, and people need to be encouraged to listen.” Summarized, Helen used her ability to speak up and to teach us all that if we do not use it, whether in nursing, parenting or with animals, no one will have the opportunity to listen. Rest In Peace with Uncle Ralph. To Lana, Ava, Jay, Paula, Jackie, and Wayne- thank you for all the lovely pictures you posted in your mom’s memory. Cherish them always.

Jay, Ava, Lana, Paula and Jackie- We are saddened to hear the news of your mom's passing. Helen Ordman- what a marvelous gentle caring soul who always made everyone feel so special. IFRA food industry conventions in years past and trips to the Nargus Conventions would not have been so memorable if it were not for Ralph and Helen Ordman and you guys. Always fun to be. You had the special knack of making everyone in your company feel like family. The short while I worked at the Ordman's Park & Shop in Lemont, I marveled how your mom always took the time to speak with the employees- fearful of Ralph, but, oh how we loved your mom!! As first Lady of the Illinois Food Retailers Association- she was so respected and loved by my parents and the IFRA membership. Rest in peace Helen. You are now back home with your beloved Ralph and son Mark. They left you far to young. God bless the Ordman Family.

My Aunt Helen was always the most welcoming, loving and giving person. She always made me feel happy to be in her presence. My family would “drop in” on most weekends and she and my Uncle Ralph opened their home and were the most gracious hosts every time we showed up. So many fun memories were made in their back yard!
I will always remember her smile and her her voice. She was an integral part of my life and she will be greater missed. May she Rest In Peace. ❤️
