“Ray”
Age 70, of Joliet, IL passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at Presence Villa Franciscan Nursing Home in Joliet. Ray was born in Indiana to the late Lena and Raymond Gottschalk, Jr, the oldest of their five children.
Ray retired from AT & T as a technician after many years of service. He worked for Home Depot on Plainfield Road in Joliet for 16 years until health prevented him from helping many area residents with their home improvement projects.
He is survived by his beloved girlfriend, Vicky Ware; two sisters, Paula Trowbridge and Mildred Gottschalk; two brothers, Kevin Gottschalk and Paul Gottschalk. Also, surviving are his sons, Raymond F. Gottschalk IV, step-son, Michael Ware; and best friend Sharay Hazel; as well as three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ray is also preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Martin.
Ray will be remembered for his giving heart. He was an avid animal rescuer, from eagles to raccoons!
All friends and relatives are invited to gather on Saturday, March 7, 2020, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A prayer service will conclude the gathering at 4:00 p.m. As it was Ray’s wish cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name can be made to PAWS up 4 rescues.
