Herman Martinez

Age 89, of Shorewood formerly of the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. 

He was born in Mexico and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16 and settled in Chicago in 1946.  He retired from Royal Crown Cola following 33 years of service.

Herman loved to garden and thoroughly enjoyed his tomatoes and cucumbers.

Surviving is his loving wife of 50 years, Geraldine (Aument) Martinez of Shorewood; his three children, Robert (Patti) Martinez of Alpena, MI, Lenore (Dwayne) Ross of Swartz Creek, MI, and Collette “Cathy” (Michael) Campasano of Plainfield; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Herman Martinez will be Sunday, March 15, 2020, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet, IL. From 2:00-6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Monday March 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park II.
