Obituary of Donald A. Davidson, Jr.

Age 78, of Morris, IL passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at Edward Hines VA Hospital. He was born September 9, 1941, in Morris, the son of former Mayor of Morris Donald A. and Marie (Bretto) Davidson, Sr. He was educated in Morris and graduated from Morris Community High School with the class of 1959. Soon after graduating, Don enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in France. In 1961 he married Nicole Desiree in Jean D’Angly, France.

 

Surviving are his children, Donald A. Davidson III, Carla (Fernando) Villarreal, and Renee (Dan) Tondini, all of Morris, IL, Christy (Brian) Heck of SanTan Valley, AZ, and Chuck (Sarah) Maierhofer of Marseilles, IL; grandchildren, Cody Davidson, Devan (Sean) Hyden and Haley (Joseph) Brymer of Texas; Kylie Villarreal, Destiny Thacker, Zoie, Callie and Lucas Tondini of Morris, Justin, and Alex Calvert, Logan, Rylan, Bailey and Bryson Heck of Arizona, Charley Maierhofer of Marseilles, and Stephanie, Ryan and Selena Vigna of Morris; eight great-grandchildren also survive.

 

Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nicole in 1963; daughter, Tina Davidson in 1984; and a grandson, Ben Davidson in 2015.

 

Don worked most of his adult life in the trucking industry and was a member of IBT, locals 179 and 710.

 

He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Lodge #1024, a lifetime member of the Grundy County Rod and Gun Club, and an avid White Sox and Chicago Bears fan.

Don enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, although being with his grandkids was his main passion.

 

In light of the guidelines set forth by the CDC, there will be a drive-up viewing of Donald on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 Noon at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Drive), Morris. Please enter from the Deerpath Drive entrance. As there will be no personal contact, please visit Don’s Memorial Tribute at www.fredcdames.com to share a story or express your condolences. Services and Interment at Evergreen Cemetery will be held privately. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
