Obituary of Robert Edward Willoughby

Age 82, of Joliet, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 11, 1937, in Chicago, the son of the late Roy Alfonso and Mary Louise (nee Sansbury) Willoughby. Robert was raised in South Shore and relocated to Hickory Hills; he later retired in Frankfort before settling down in Joliet. He proudly served his country in the US Army before dedicating his life to his career as a forklift operator with General Warehouse. Robert was also a member of the Teamsters Local #781 and St. Dennis Catholic Church in Lockport.

Survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Donna (nee Shantz) Willoughby; sons, Chris and Marc (Kelly) Willoughby; grandchildren, Ashley and Alexis Willoughby.

Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sandra Barranco

 As it was Robert’s request, cremation rites have been accorded. A private inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements under the care and coordination of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
