Obituary of Walter Friant

Walter W. Friant Age 90. Passed away Friday, April 24, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center. Born August 11, 1918 in Weston, IL to the late Arnold and Amelia (nee Litke) Friant. He married Mary Lou Wagner on April 18, 1945 in Joliet. She preceded him in 1987. He was a lifelong farmer, first in New Lenox, then in Minooka since 1949, and a long time member of the Farm Bureau. Walter was a quiet man, whose life centered around farming and family. He liked watching high school sports and playing with his grandchildren; and was one of the original Minooka High School "Super Fans". Surviving are his three children, Dan (Kathy) Friant of Minooka, Bob (Linda) Friant of Minooka and Janice (Frank) Pena of Manhattan; six grandchildren, Jeff (Amy) Friant, Kristin (Peter) Thomas, Nick (Stephanie) Friant, Zach Friant, Kevin Pena and Brian (Brittany) Pena; five great-grandchildren, Moira and Keegan Friant; Isabelle Thomas; Mason Friant; and Olivia Pena; one brother, David (Fern) Friant; one sister, Irene (Ed) McClane; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, June Friant, and Bob and Dorothy Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife; parents; four brothers, Charles, Dick, Clarence and Carl Friant; and one sister, Pearl McIver. Funeral Services for Walter W. Friant will be Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Minooka for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Minooka.
