Obituary of Dorothy M. Turner
Dorothy M. Turner, (nee Johnson), age 77, of Joliet, passed away Friday, July 3, 2020 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, after a courageous six year battle with cancer.
She was born April 2, 1943 in Lockport, to Edward N. and Elizabeth M. (Kern) Johnson. Following the death of her mother, she went to live at Guardian Angel Home in Joliet, from 1947 to 1957, and was a graduate of Downers Grove High School, Class of 1961. She was a member of the National Society of Daughters of the Union.
Surviving are her four beloved daughters, Mary Turner of Morris, Julie (Don) Cain of Joliet, Susan (Thomas) Haven of Joliet, and Terri (Larry) King of Morris; three grandchildren, Katelyn Cain and Marshal and Morgan Haven; three sisters, Georgene O’Shea, Elaine Kaschmitter and Karen Hulling; one brother, Leonard Dryer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas N. “Buddy” Turner; her parents; and her siblings, Virginia Lyles, Eugene Johnson, Etta Mae Otto, Charles Johnson, Fred Johnson, Edward Johnson, Ronald Johnson, and Evelyn Lothian.
A Memorial Service for Dorothy Turner will be held Thursday, July 9, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road (at Essington Road), Joliet, where family and friends are invited to gather from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Cremation rites have been accorded and interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lockport.
