Sylvia E. Gambino (nee Rice) Age 72, of Joliet and formerly Calumet City, IL., passed away peacefully, Friday, July 2, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. Born August 2, 1937 in Rensselaer, IN. to the late Elmo and Sabina (nee Hart) Rice. Loving mother of Vincent (Renee) Gambino and Vita Jendreas. Beloved Nanna of Dominic and Hope. She is also survived by many brother and sister-in-laws; nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Sylvia was a friend to many. Preceded in death by her husband Ernest Gambino (1977); her parents; father and mother-in-law Vincenzo and Vita Gambino and her brothers and sisters. An active resident of the Park Tower and Secretary of the Harmony Club, Sylvia was also a charter member of the Italian Catholic Federation Chapter in Calumet City, IL. Funeral Services for Sylvia E. Gambino will be Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. InUrnment at a later date at Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated. Visitation Wednesday, 2-9 p.m. at: FRED C.
