Marvin Lee Gandy was born to Willie "Red" Gandy (who precedes him in death) and Jimmie Lee (Gandy) Williams Howard on December 17, 1963 in Laurel, MS. He confessed hope in Christ at an early age. He departed this life on June 18, 2010 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
Unfortunately, due to an ongoing illness he resigned from Andrew Corporation in Tinley Park as a cable fitter in 2007.
On December 15, 1995 Marvin and Jereka Gandy joined union and enjoyed 14 years of marriage until his death. From this union two children were born. He was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.
Marvin Lee Gandy leaves to cherish his memories the many lives he touched, three daughters and one son, Karen L. Evans and Shaniqua D. Evans both of Laurel, MS, Shanndoria K. Gandy and Dalvin D. Russell of Joliet; three brothers, James Gandy Jr., Nelson Gandy, and Jerry Williams; three sisters, Rose Husband, Willie (Eddie) Mildred both of Laurel, MS, and Mary (Andrew) Shoemake of Joliet; one grandchild, Lencarius Marquez Evans, and one grandchild who precedes him in death. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends; one "Favorite" niece, Kyla Shoemake, and a very special nephew, Benny Turner. Marvin also leaves a special mother-in-law, Priscilla Alsup; three sisters-in-law, Shanda (Jeffery) Washington, Roslesser (Macy) Harmon, and Jaycee (Nicole) Grainger all of Joliet.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Joliet Area Community Hospice and Joliet Oncology Hematology Associates for their compassionate care.
A Memorial Service for Marvin Lee Gandy will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bennie Yarbough officiating. No visitation. Arrangements by:
