Harry was like a guardian angel during my childhood, not often seen but ever present and a positive influence guided by the overarching rule of family law “best interest of the child”. He clearly lived his life guided by the core values and best traditions of the institutions which formed him and which he dedicated his life to. Namely, Roman Catholic Church, US Navy, and legal profession. No doubt his counsel played an integral role in making it possible for families like mine to have a measure of normalcy when ‘normal’ family functioning had broken down. Rest assured, like a pebble dropped in calm water, Harry’s influence will reverberate long after he’s gone.

Harry was a class guy, both as a veteran, lawyer, and friend. He was respected and admired by the Joliet legal community. You did well, Harry!!

My sincere sympathy on the loss of your husband, dad and grandfather. I worked for Harry in the 80's (85 to 87). He was a wonderful boss and I learned a lot from him. He was an excellent attorney and very respected by all. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

i'll always remember the brave or crazy things we did at the time we lived near each other when we were young. We painted the front door to the building. (It didn't matter that the door was full length glass). Or the time, with home-made capes, we dedcided to fly off the back porches. (It was ok from their 1st floor unit, but we had to be told that out 3rd floor was just too high) these and many more things will always remain in my mind. It's also sobering to think that our family is steadily shrinking. I'm confident that Harry's family has had the traditions of the Chiaro family instilled into their cores and will continue. I'll miss him. Jim Chiaro, cousin.

Happy was a wonderful person and a great attorney. We often butted heads (especially in my legal aid days) but remained friends. He will be greatly missed in the legal community. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
