I just know that every time Bill and I had a conversation he was genuinely interested in anything we spoke about. He was not your typical “old guy”. He loved life and really loved his family and friends! I am happy he is reunited with Marian but we will miss him.

Condolences to the entire Edwards family. Bill was a mentor for me and many others.
He was always willing to listen and help a teacher or a coach at West or Central.
Rest in Peace!

I am so sorry to hear of Mr. Edwards passing. My husband Brian and Mr. Edwards were not only colleagues at JTHS but we were neighbors for many years with he and Mrs. Edwards. I lost my husband a year ago but Mr. Edwards would walk down the street and came and sat and visited on our patio and he and Brian would share their memories and stories of past students and athletes and even past co-workers. They could talk for a long time. He was a wonderful, gentle man. We also were classmates of his lovely daughter Nancy.
Please accept my condolences to the whole family. Our neighborhood is getting very lonely. I hope you find peace in God’s loving arms. I’m sure he and Brian are already sharing stories!
Sincerely,
Lorna Lynch

I’ve known Mr. Edwards for fifty years going back to my Joliet West days and becoming friends with his son Bill. He was a pleasure to talk with, running into him at Walgreens or stopping to talk to him whenever I’d see him out walking his dog years later. I always learned something from his stories and he was always interested in what I had to say. I’m so glad I have this picture of him that was taken a couple years ago as a remembrance of such a nice man he always was to me.
Condolences to his family, Rest in Peace Mr. Edwards.

Bill was one of the best friends I ever had and could ask for. I met him almost 17 years ago when I became his neighbor. He was the first neighbor I met and I remember it like it was yesterday. He came walking across the street "Hi, I'm Bill Edwards and I'm your neighbor." His kind eyes, smile and sound of his voice made me like him instantly. It wasn't long before I stopped calling him "neighbor" and started calling him "friend". I'd walk over when I'd see him out and sometimes we would talk for an hour. I loved listening to his stories and he always wanted to hear about what was going on in my life that week. We always talked about our dogs, Cinnamon, Chili Dog, Charlie, Sally and Gary. When Charlie was younger he was a runner and my daughter was the Charlie catcher.
Bill once said that when he left this world he hopes that people remember him and he hoped that he did some good in the world. I told him that he was a wonderful man that alot of people will remember. My daughter was 10 at the time and I told him that he will live on in Jessica for many, many years.
Lastly, my condolences to his family and I will miss my friend always. ❤

Dean Edwards was my dean junior year of high school. He actually made Joliet West a better place. He always had a smile and kind word. He was a good man with a gentle soul. Rest in peace.
