Obituary of Mary Layne

Age 74, of Joliet, IL passed away Sunday, October 18, 2020 at home.  She was born June 14, 1946 in Hohenfels, Germany to the late Janina and Jozef Kramarczyk. Mary emigrated with her family to the United States in 1953 and settled in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood where she was raised and educated, a graduate of St. Anne’s High School.  She married Charles Layne and they raised their family in the Brighton Park neighborhood.

She is the loving mother of Deborah Layne, Diane Layne, Donna (Lou) Albano, Darlene (Chris) Layne, Deanna (Joann) Layne and Andrew C. Layne; beloved grandmother of 14 and great-grandmother of 6. Dear sister of Lisa Karmar, Donna Rodriguez and Bruno Kramarczyk.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by her husband, Charles Layne and her parents.

Mary enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and the pursuit of dominating the game of Spiral on her PlayStation.

As it was Mary’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded.  All friends and relatives are invited to gather with her family to celebrate her life on Saturday, October 24, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.)
