Stanley J. Turkula

Stanley J. Turkula, age 89, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020, at the Jesse Brown Medical Center in Chicago, IL.  Stanley was born on November 15, 1930, the son of the late Bruno and Josephine Turkula. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Army. He was a gifted photographer and worked at Tempel Steel, as their corporate photographer.  

Stanley was a member of numerous organizations and was always involved with the community. He was a member of the Chicago Professional Photographers Association, the Chicago Chamber Orchestra Association, the VFW, the North Suburban Chicago Chapter of the United Ostomy Association, The Smithsonian Institution, and the Polish Legion of American Veterans in Chicago.  

Stanley was truly talented with his camera.  He had an unparalleled skill and an amazing artistic eye to capture the beauty of anything through the lens of his camera. If you ever had the privilege of being photographed by Stanley, just remember what he would say when asking for that smile….” say Whiskey!”

Stanley is survived by his two nieces, Linda (Thomas) Buyle and Terry (Jeff) Lawson; great-nephews, Jeffrey, Lucas, and Michael Lawson, Thomas, Jr. and Daniel Buyle, and Jason and Krystina Turkula; great-great-nephew Oliver; his nephew’s wife, Sheri Turkula; and numerous friends.

He is preceded by his parents; his brother and sister-in-law, Bruno and Lottie Turkula; and his nephew Mark Turkula.
