Obituary of Jesse C. Bass
Age 81, of Morris, IL. passed away Tuesday, November 10, 2020, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home. He was born in Fayette Co, AL. on July 19, 1939, the son of the late William and Ethel (Nevills) Bass, a longtime resident of Oak Lawn, IL. living in Morris for the past two and a half years. Jesse was an entrepreneur; he was the proprietor of several businesses, over the course of his career, retiring from the milk business in 2014. Jesse visited Montana every year where he volunteered at the Blackfoot Reservation for fifteen years. He was a former member of the First Church of the Nazarene of Oak Lawn, IL. serving on the board of directors and a current member of the First Church of the Nazarene, Marseilles, IL. Jesse was a jack of all trades, he could build or remodel just about everything.
Surviving is his wife of 63 years, Cherry (Johnson) Bass of Morris; three children, David (Evelyn) Bass of Minooka, Jeffery (Susan) Bass of New York and Beverley (Robert) Tripamer of Oak lawn; five grandchildren, David Bass Jr. Lisa (Chris) Breitwieser, Jesse James (Layne) De Groot, Matthew De Groot and Gabriel Bass, Ten great-grandchildren Michael and Ashley Bass, Brandon Mazzoni, Jesse James De Groot II, Nya Mazzoni, Ethan Breitwieser, Abel De Groot, Lorelei De Groot, Jimmy De Groot and Levi De Groot; one great-great-grandson on the way; one sister; Lucille Davidson of Monee, IL; one brother, James Bass of Bridgeview, IL.
Preceded by two sisters, Brenda Perry and Edril Stricklin; five brothers, Preston, Leon, William, Robert, and Joe Bass.
Visitation for Jesse C. Bass will be Friday, November 13, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the funeral home chapel at 11:00 am. In accordance with the Illinois guidelines face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, in Morris. In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Lurie Children’s Hospital, Chicago would be appreciated.
