I just found the streamed funeral service for Skip, and the link to this site after searching for his name. I have known Skip for many years as a fellow employee at RR Donnelley, and enjoyed his friendship for so many years. I remember a time when Skip and Phylis gave me a ride home to South Holland after work. I believe it was around 1998 when I last saw Skip. He was working at the Merchandise Mart, and came for a visit.
Phylis, we pray that God will bless you and your family for years to come.

Skip and I competed furiously in everything, ping pong, bowling, baseball. He usually won. I even taught him how to play chess and he was beating me within 2 weeks. I'm sorry we never had that lunch date. We'll miss you pal.

Our years together with Skip are treasures we will never forget. I'm sure Bob and Skip are reminiscing about all the years together at RRD, fishing trips, New Years eve parties, Picnics, dinners and BBQ's we spent together. Skip was a special friend, one of a kind! My deepest sympathy to all of you. He had a heart of gold with strong family ties, and an endless group of friends. I always loved his big Bear Hugs and his great Smile, and hearty laugh! Love to a dear friend.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Skip at RRD in the late 90's. He was a colleague, friend and one of the nicest guys I have ever met. He had a passion for life and loved his family dearly. Rest in peace my friend!!!!

One of my earliest memories of my Dad pulling a “Clark Grizwald“ move was on a fishing trip up to the Northwoods. I was about 10.
My Dad had this great idea of buying the bait cheaper back home, and we’d just bring it up with us. Worms would’ve been fine. But this wasn’t worms. This was a white, 5 gallon styrofoam cooler filled with 10 dozen leeches. In water. So my brother and I took our turn riding with this cooler on the floor, and we had to keep our hand on the lid. For 10 hours. So at the first hard stop, there go all the leeches... all over the floor of the car. So we stopped on the side of the road, scooped them all up, got back in and drove on. Until we hit the next hard stop... and there go all the leeches.
Thanks Dad.
I learned so much from my Dad. How to tie a fishing line, how to bait a hook and how to handle a fish. He taught me how to shoot a basketball, throw a curve and catch a fly ball. He taught me how to shop for a car, how to buy a house and how to be a good husband and father. But I won’t ever beat Number 1.
Thanks Dad.
If you knew my Dad, you knew he was a thinker. And you knew he was thinking cuz he’d be chewing the inside of his lip. A habit I picked up myself. Often times my father and I would catch us looking at each other, both chewing our lips. Thanks Dad.
The thing I have to thank my Dad for most, is when I was about 14 years old, my Dad let me take out the family speed boat. I thought I was so cool. So cool, that I had the courage to pull up to a swim raft across the lake and meet my future wife. Thanks Dad.
Dad, you share similar features with my wife. The same kind of round, approachable face, a big, beautiful smile and the warmest hug. Over the last few years you may have noticed that I held on to those hugs a little longer. I’m glad I did that. I will forever have a sound bite in my head of you laughing out loud, really hard. Thinking of that is what allows me to get through this. I’ll try and make my smiles and laughs as big as yours were.
Thank you for my life. Thank you for being my Dad. I’ll miss you so much. Love you.

Skip, you were a wonderful friend and I will always have you in my heart. Even though we have grown apart as we retired and aged, you were always in my mind, as a friend and someone to go to for a laugh and good time. Phylis, your children and grand children will never forget you and your loving kindness. You will not be forgotten!

I went to OLGH with skip. Did not hang with the same people but played alot of baseball with him. Only way I could get on base against him was crowding the plate and letting him hit me or bunt. Very sorry for your loss I am so glad he had good friends and family to spend his life with.
