To our family you will always be known as Uncle Pete. I am not sure how you acquired that name but I don’t recall anyone calling you Jay. It was an honor to attend both your visitation and the virtual memorial. You and Aunt Betty were always so kind, understanding and caring. You took my family under your wings and gave me the encouragement to fly when I needed it. Thank you for helping my children throughout the years. Especially helping us make it through our first Christmas when you insisted we come to your house. I am so grateful that we did. We enjoyed all of the family gatherings and were so happy to be included in your wonderful family and welcomed in such a loving and caring way.
The kindness, empathy, sensitivity, willingness to help others, and the demonstration of love exhibited by Uncle Pete, made him a very special person. He touched many people’s lives. Our hearts are deeply saddened but our memories are everlasting. Uncle Pete we loved you dearly and will miss you very much.
The best way to say goodbye is by saying “You are One in a Million” Uncle Pete! May you Rest In Peace.

I will always remember Jay as a loving husband to Betty, dedicated father to Linda and Dave, Sharon and Paul, and wonderful grandfather to Tyler and Patricia. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone and always enjoyed conversation with him. May he rest in eternal peace in the arms of our heavenly Father.

It was an honor to view the live stream of the service for your father, Linda. It was a celebration of a life well lived by a man who obviously was well loved. He has left a lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with. I wish I had the opportunity to meet him in person. My sincere condolences go out to the entire family and you will remain in my prayers for comfort and peace. May God Bless all of you.

Dear Betty and family,
A better Patriot than Jay there never was. I an not sure that last statement is proper English but you know what I mean. We in the Lions Club were honored to have him as a member these many years. His help and guidance were always spot on and delivered in a gentle manner. If you got to a Lion event before Jay it probably meant you were there on the wrong day. God blessed us with his presence and we are forever grateful. Respectfully,
Ric Offerman

I knew Jay through his work as a trustee for the Minooka Police Pension Fund. He was a diligent steward of officers’ money and a thoughtful contributor during meetings. Jay, his positive attitude, and dedication are already missed. He is an example to the rest of us of the dividends paid when one lives a life of service to others. On behalf of our family and our law firm, we offer our condolences to Betty and the rest of Jay’s family. I hope knowing his many good deeds are valued and remembered offer some consolation at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Keith A. Karlson

My heartfelt prayers go out to Betty and Jay's family...I also pray that God will bring comfort to them all...I have been fortunate to have spent many lunches with Jay and Betty over these past many years at our DGHS gatherings...it has been my pleasure to enjoy his company and wander back through time to our high school years...My heart is saddened and I will always miss any new conversations...Jay was one of the good guys from the Class of 1961...rest in peace my friend.
