Obituary of Jean Carol Barker
Jean Carol (nee Johnson) Barker passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on Thursday evening, December 3, 2020. Jean was a lifelong Joliet area resident, born on May 23, 1932, to the late Albin and Mabel (Fields) Johnson. She was a graduate of Joliet Central High School. After raising her children, she became licensed in Food Service and started her career working at Lincoln Way High School in School District 210. Jean attended bible studies for many years at Lincoln Way Christian Church in New Lenox, and First Christian Church in Morris as well.
Along with being a devoted mother and wife, she enjoyed bowling, square dancing, playing volleyball and spending time with her family while traveling and camping.
She is survived by her children, Terrance (Karen) Barker, David (Kathleen) Barker and Lorrie (Randy) Fox; grandchildren, Terry (Rebecca) Barker, Michelle (Adam) Dilworth, Jason (Kasey) Barker, Brayden Barker, David Barker, Ramie (Missy Norton) Fox and Jeannine (Landon) Sayler; great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Reid, Jeremiah, Ryland, Harrison, Maya, Ethan, Ryder, Rowyn and Brynn; one sister-in-law, Celine Johnson and several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Preceded by her husband of 48 years, Raymond Arthur Barker (2001); her parents and her brothers Clayton Johnson and Melvin Johnson.
Due to current conditions a celebration of her life will take place when we can all gather again. As it was Jeans request, cremation rites have been accorded.
