Obituary of Helen O. Wendel

Age 85, of Joliet, passed away Monday, December 7, 2020 at Villa Franciscan.  She was born in Yugoslavia, emigrating to the United States in the mid-’50s in North Manchester, IN, and living in Joliet for the past 52 years. Helen graduated high school in North Manchester.  She loved reading, music and raising her family.

Surviving are her two children, Elizabeth (Kevin) Smith of Joliet and Josef (Sarah) Wendel, Jr. of Joliet; grandchildren, Jessica (Drew) Zitzke, Alexx, Ava and Alana Wendel; great-grandchildren, Shawn Wendel and Beckett Zitke.

Preceded in death by her husband, Josef Wendel (2006); her parents, Geza and Rosa Tewich; and great-grandson, Nate Dixon.
