Lynn Kraus

Obituary of Lynn Rae Kraus

Lynn Rae Kraus, age 67, of Channahon, passed away after a hard-fought battle with Covid-19, despite having no pre-existing conditions, on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at Morris Hospital.  Born October 12, 1953, in Kankakee, IL, she was the daughter of Dennis and Joyce (nee Merriman) Klosterhoff.

Lynn grew up in Joliet, Illinois. She was a graduate of Joliet West High School, Class of 1971. She proudly raised three children and married her beloved husband, Tom, in 1993. Lynn worked at Family Practice Consultants for over 20 years and Oswalt General Surgery for the last 5 years as a healthcare receptionist.

Lynn was a devoted daughter to her mother, a selfless mother to her children, and a loving Nana to her grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She also loved shopping and hosting family dinners. Her favorite holiday was Christmas, and she was the world’s best gift giver. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren. From attending every school/sporting event to taking yearly trips to the Brookfield Zoo, she absolutely adored them.

Survived by her beloved mother, Joyce Klosterhoff; her loving children, Dawn (Dr. Kristopher) Oswalt, Sean (Melissa) Donnelly, and Ryan (Audra) Donnelly; Proud Nana of Emma and Jack Oswalt, Nola Donnelly, Macy Welsh, Paloma Masching, and Nora and Abby Kraus; step-children, Amy (Chad) Masching and John (Grace) Kraus; brother, Michael (Gail) Klosterhoff; brother-in-law, Jeff (Nancy) Kraus; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas J. Kraus (September 6, 2020); and her father, Dennis J. Klosterhoff (1983).

The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thank-you to the nurses, doctors, and staff at Morris Hospital and to so many family members and friends for their countless prayers and support.
