John Zane Argoudelis PSG, EPC Age 81, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at Provena Saint Joseph Medical Center, with his family by his side. Survived by four daughters, Alexandra, Kathryn (Paul) Gassensmith, Maria (Robert) Laws of Papillion, NE and JoAnn Edenburn; three granddaughters, Kristen (Nick) Gassensmith-Yangas, Alison Gassensmith and Gabriella Laws; two grandsons, Steven and Samuel Edenburn; one brother, Frank J. Argoudelis; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Preceded in death by a son, Demetrius "Jimmy"; a grandson, Jimmy; his parents, James Z. and Alexandria (nee Diakakis) Argoudelis; a sister in infancy; and a son-in-law, Steven Edenburn. Member of the Order of AHEPA; past President Joliet Chapter #131; founder and past President of Oakbrook Chapter 202 in Oakbrook, IL, 1974 13th District Governor, Supreme Governor (1977-2003). Honored by the U.S. Senate and the State of Illinois in 1974 for outstanding service to the State of Illinois and the Hellenic Community. Member of the Plainfield Lodge #536 A.F.&A.M. Past Eminent Commander, Joliet Commandery #4; Knights Templar, Medinah Temple A.A.O.N.M.S. Shrine, founder and Commander, Joliet Shrine Motor Corps, nine year President of the local Muscular Dystrophy Association Chapter. He was employed by Keebler Company for 15 years, and also as a commercial real estate representative. Funeral Services for John Z. Argoudelis will be Monday July 27, 2009 at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Association would be appreciated. Visitation Sunday 3-7 p.m. with Trisagion Services at 5:00 p.m. at: FRED C.
