Obituary of Jamie Ruth Wesley
Age 74, of Joliet, IL entered into rest Tuesday, December 15, 2020. She was raised and educated in Georgia and graduated from Waynesboro High School, Class of 1965. Jamie lived in Will and Grundy Counties most of her adult life until she and her husband retired to Georgia and later returned to Joliet.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Ernest Wesley, Jr; loving mother of Stephanie Phelan (Thomas); proud and devoted grandmother of Tyler and Colin Walden; dear sister of Kathryn Cannon (Roy Bell), Polly Dailey (Johnny), James “Bubba” Black (Wanda), and Paula Adams (David); special cousin of Sybil Johnson; and aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Jamie was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Dale DeLaigle (Nick).
Jamie believed in service to the community, held memberships in various clubs and organizations, and served in many leadership roles with the American Legion Auxiliary. In recent years, Jamie participated as President of the Resident Council at Sunny Hill Nursing Home of Will County where she resided.
The family would like to thank the resident and staff family of Sunny Hill Nursing Home, especially Ann, Becky, Gil, Julie, Kathy, Irish, Monica, and Simon, for their loving and compassionate care of Jamie. The family would also like to thank the dedicated, tireless, and compassionate staff of Silver Cross Hospital.
As it was Jamie’s wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Inurnment will take place at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
