Nancy M. Wood
(nee Runge)
Age 69, of Joliet, passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home following a 25 year battle with MS. Nancy was born in Joliet, the daughter of the late Richard and Cecilia (Oachs) Runge, she was a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of St. Patrick Grade School and St. Francis Academy. Nancy was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan and thoroughly enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas. In her younger years, she had a passion for fishing, bowling, and water skiing. Nancy was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Surviving is her children, Lori (Brad) Shawmeker of Joliet and Kim (Brad) Hill of Plainfield; her four grandchildren, Jeremy Shawmeker, Ashley Shawmeker, Tyler Hill, and Cameron Hill; two sisters, Sharon (Dan) Kallan of Minooka and Sandra (Paul) Allen of Joliet; her brother, Richard (Chris) Runge of Florida; many nieces and nephews.
Preceded by her parents and her beloved husband of 42 years, John Wood (2014).
A memorial gathering for Nancy M. Wood will be Sunday, January 10, 2021, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.), Joliet from 2:00 p.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 4:00 p.m. A maximum of 10 guests will be allowed at one time, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
