Obituary of Jeanne M. Colbert

Jeanne M. Colbert, age 90, late of Crest Hill and a lifelong Joliet resident, passed away Sunday, December 20, 2020 peacefully at her home.

Born March 19, 1930 in Joliet, she was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Merlo) Bertino.  She has been retired since 2008 from the former First National Bank of Joliet.

Jeanne was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be remembered for her charm and always having a smile on her face.  She was a sweet lady who never complained.  She was especially gifted at solving crossword puzzles, and played card games, which she usually won.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Robert L. Colbert; one daughter, Marianne Gulas; a son, Robert, in infancy; and her parents, Frank and Mary Bertino.

Surviving are her children, Susan (John) Kochalka of Joliet, Jim (Gayle) Colbert of Shorewood, and Michael (Marie) Colbert of Naperville; seven grandchildren, Jackie (Ruud) Lenssen, Michael Kochalka; Bobby (Allison) Gulas, Tom (Kyla)  Gulas, Jim Colbert, Jeff (Elizabeth) Colbert, and Stephanie (Justin) Gaumer; two great-granddaughters, Liliana and Grace; and one sister, Joann (Larry) Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Jeanne Colbert will be celebrated Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 10:30 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet.  Visitation will be private, and entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum, Romeoville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) would be appreciated.
