Obituary of Linda Adele Pecka

Linda Adele Pecka, age 76, of Morris, passed away peacefully Monday, December 28, 2020 at home, with her loving daughter by her side. Linda was born June 10, 1944 in Joliet, IL.

She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Sandstrom; her mother, Isabel (Jones) Sandstrom Bonnell; and her former husband, John Pecka.

Surviving are her beloved daughter, Cynthia E. “Cindy” (Jason) Hecht; her precious grandson, Asher Hecht: her brother, Edward (Maria) Sandstrom; her sister, Karen (Jim) Hancock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Linda graduated from Ludwig Junior High, and Lockport Township High School.  She continued her education at Northern Illinois University, and then studied library science from the University of St. Francis.  She retired from teaching at Yorkville High School where she will be remembered for teaching German and Spanish to her students.  She loved teaching and also enjoyed being a substitute teacher when she was able.

She was a great single mother and loved her daughter dearly.  Besides being a wonderful mother and grandmother, she loved her animals.  She was a member of the Morris Women’s Club.  Linda loved spending time with family, working out at Curves, and fishing at Murphy Landing. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation for Linda Adele Pecka will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6, (at Deerpath Drive), in Morris.  Interment will take place at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Joliet. In accordance with the Illinois guidelines, a 10 person capacity rotation will be followed, face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the wishes of the family would be appreciated.
