Obituary of Mary "Marlene" Testin

Mary “Marlene” (Hayne) Testin, age 84, of Gardner, IL and a former longtime Plainfield, IL resident passed away Sunday, January 3, 2021, at The Gardens at Park Pointe in Morris.

She was born January 30, 1936, to the late Ruth and Russell Hayne in Seneca, IL where she enjoyed her childhood, especially driving trucks and tractors on the farm with her father.  After attending Seneca Grade and High School, Marlene attended St. Joes School of Nursing in Joliet, receiving her RN license in 1957.

On January 18, 1958, she married Raymond Testin.  In addition to her beloved husband of nearly 63 years, she is also survived by her sons and daughters, Dave (Pam) Testin, Diane Hunting, Dan (Beth) Testin, Daryl Testin, Don (Sheri) Testin and Debbie (Tom) Bangert. Marlene is the proud and devoted grandmother of nine grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Don (Pat) Hayne, and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Joyce Hayne, and one brother, Russell Hayne, Jr. in infancy.

Marlene spent much of her nursing career at St. Joes Hospital, however, she also enjoyed later in her career, being a home health nurse as well as an original nurse affiliated with Joliet Area Community Hospice at its’ inception.

She enjoyed traveling with Ray as well as snowmobiling and boating in Wisconsin and most importantly spending time with her beloved family.

Visitation for Marlene Testin will be held Friday, January 8, 2021, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 W. Route 6 at Deerpath Drive in Morris. In accordance with the Illinois guidelines, a 10 person capacity rotation will be followed, face masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.  The family has requested to live stream the services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 8, 2021.  Please click on this link https://youtu.be/FNoYoupDIsQ  and follow the instructions to show your support for them at a time when you cannot be physically present, but your thoughts, prayers, and connections are.
