Obituary of Carol Glasscock

Glasscock, Carol E. (Reiter) Age 54. At peace Saturday, April 24, 2011 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, surrounded by her loving family, following a hope and faith filled 16 month battle with breast cancer. Born in Joliet, IL to Audrey and the late Donald P. Reiter, she was a lifetime resident of Joliet. She attended Joliet grade schools, was a graduate of St. Francis Academy (1974), Drake University, Des Moines, IA (1978), and the College of St. Francis (USF) where she earned her teaching certificate. She was currently employed by Lockport Township High School as a paraprofessional. She was previously a teacher in many capacities in the Will County area where her love of her students was most evident, including work with Trinity Services Homes and she took time away from her career to raise three beautiful children. She was a member of various church choirs, and a former member of the Sweet Adeline's Women Singing Choir, her Bible Study Group, and the Chi Omega Fraternity. Surviving are her beloved husband of 19 years, John J. "Jack" Glasscock; devoted mother of Audrey, Jeffrey, and Jennifer all of Joliet; loving daughter of Audrey (Niethammer) Reiter of Joliet; dear sister of Thomas (Stormy) Reiter of Lockport, Diane (Thomas) Vertin of Plainfield, Michelle (James) Nonnie of Joliet, and Terry (Nora) Reiter of Davenport, IA; sister-in-law to Margaret (Robert) Caruso of Channahon; several nieces, nephews, and special cousins also survive. Carol will always be remembered for her beautiful smile that would warm your heart when she walked into a room, and her love of teaching and her optimistic and adventurous nature. She loved music and inevitably would entertain family gatherings with her beautiful piano playing. One of her many hobbies was having great interest in and taking care of animals of all types.
