Obituary of Lynn Joseph Jones
Age 87, a longtime Shorewood, IL resident, passed peacefully Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.
He was born February 6, 1933 in Cato, New York to the late Vida (nee Tenneth) and Joseph William Jones.
Lynn served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is the beloved husband of 59 years to Nancy Jean (nee Ferguson) Jones; loving father of Bryan, Gary and Edward Jones; devoted grandfather of David and Joseph Lynn Jones; dear brother of Sandra, Jean Marie, Laura and James Jones. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Gerald and Wayne Jones.
Lynn retired several years ago as a Maintenance Electrician from Sheffield Steel in Joliet, IL. He was a skilled troubleshooter who was always willing to analyze and fix equipment issues at any time of the day or night to ensure production wasn’t interrupted. He was previously employed at Ceco Steel, Thomas Steel and the EJ & E Railroad.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #300, the American Legion Post #1080 and a life member of VFW Cantigny Post #367.
A devoted family man, Lynn will be remembered fondly for his love, guidance, positive attitude and welcoming smile.
Visitation for Mr. Jones will be Monday, January 18, 2021 from 2-4 pm at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Facemasks and distancing are required and capacity restrictions will be followed. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 19, 2021 10 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials in Lynn’s name can be made to Joliet Area Community Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association.
