Obituary of Sharon Lynn Grossklaus

Sharon L. Grossklaus

 (nee Hulbert)

Sharon L. Grossklaus — an inspiration and the definition of a true angel, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family on January 25, 2021, at the age of 56 after a 20 year battle with cancer. Sharon was born on February 12, 1964, in Joliet, Illinois.  She graduated from St. Francis Academy and worked in Environmental Services at St. Joseph Medical Center. She was a member of the Joliet Moose Women’s Chapter #84.

Sharon is survived by her parents, Richard Sr. and Rosemary Hulbert; brothers, Richard Jr. and David Hulbert; sister, Beverly Gans; devoted husband, William Grossklaus Sr.; daughter, Susan (Michael Veugeler) Grossklaus; sons, William Jr. (Roxane) Grossklaus and Michael (Alexandria) Grossklaus; granddaughters, Alexis and Hailey Veugeler, Madison Grossklaus, and Harper Grossklaus; grandson, Ayden Grossklaus; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Preceded in death by her in-laws, Wayne and Marilyn Grossklaus.

Through Sharon’s battle with cancer, she remained strong, positive, and loving.  She often proved cancer wrong and had more than defied the odds for as long as she could.  In spite of everything she endured, Sharon had many personal accomplishments and proud memories. She appreciated having her loving husband accompany her to her cancer appointments and treatments. She adored watching her daughter Susan’s events and games while she was cheerleading for the Junior Luvabulls.  She joyfully attended all of her son Billy’s wrestling meets and tournaments. She treasured coaching her son Michael’s baseball team. She cherished the times when she would cheer on her children at all of their sporting events. The happiest moments in her life included seeing her children marry and being there for the births of her grandchildren. Sharon attended a dance with her granddaughter, Madison; a very proud moment in her life. Sharon loved her children and grandchildren so much that she always put them before herself.

Sharon started her own cancer support group (Strive 4 Hope All Cancer Support Group).  She always knew how to put a smile on all of the cancer patients’ faces and how to make them laugh.  She was also there to comfort them and help them get through rough times. This is how she treated everyone; she was truly selfless.  Sharon will always be remembered for her altruistic, positive, gentle, loving, and funny personality.
