Obituary of Robert L. Lara
Robert Lucio Lara, age 74, of Joliet, and formerly of Bridgeview, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at home, with his loving family by his side.
Born January 1, 1947 in Brownsville, TX, he was the son of the late Juan and Juanita (Torres) Lara. He married the love of his life, the former Lois L. Alexander, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage until her passing on May 16, 2017.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and retired from Corn Products where he worked as a lab chemist for 47 years.
Robert was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who will be remembered for his quick wit and his jokes and storytelling. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and going to the casinos, and especially loved visiting Universal Studios and Walt Disney World. Last but not least, he loved to cook and family gatherings will not be the same without him.
Surviving are his four children, Chris (Richie) Linton, Stevie Lara, Denise (Bajram) Memishofski, and Selena "Bear" (Ryan) Huff; five grandchildren, Jordan (Matt) Hagen, Hope Grutzius, Hunter Linton, Macen Memishofski, and Fallon Memishofski; many birth and adopted family members including a sister, Minnie Rodriguez in Texas; and his wife’s large extended family.
Services for Robert Lara will be private. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the United States Army.
