Obituary of Clarence W. Lamping
Clarence W. Lamping, of Morris, IL passed away Friday, January 29, 2021.
He was born June 28, 1937 to the late Fern E. (nee Picton) and Clarence E. Lamping in Pekin, IL and was raised in Elwood, IL. Clarence graduated with the Class of 1955 from Joliet Township High School.
He married Patricia A. Valek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Joliet, IL on October 11, 1958 and made their home in Lockport, IL where Clarence worked as a carpenter until he started his contracting company in 1961, C.W. Lamping General Contractors, Inc. which is still in existence today.
In addition to Patricia, his beloved wife of 62 years, he is also survived by three sons, Brian A. (Jo Lyn) Lamping, Todd J. (Sylvia) Lamping and Kurt D. Lamping; two granddaughters, Heather Jones and Jennifer Brockman; four great-grandchildren, Kayli and Carter, Keane and Dwane; two sisters, Marie Strysik and Mary Ann Cockream. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Preceded in death by his parents, Fern E. and Clarence E. Lamping.
Clarence served in the U.S. Navy reserve from 1954-1962 as a damage controlman. He built many homes in the Will and Grundy communities along with his three sons over the years. His other love of farming, also with his sons in Grundy County from 1976-2009.
He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the NRA. In his free time, he thoroughly enjoyed hunting, primarily waterfowl.
A Memorial Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4, 2021 from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 1201 W. Rt. 6 (at Deerpath Dr) Morris. A prayer service will start at 7 p.m. and conclude the evening. As it was Clarence's wish cremation rites have been accorded
