Obituary of Verneda M. Hall

Verneda M. Hall, 94, of Morris, passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at The Gardens at Park Pointe, where she has resided since 2017.

Born December 3, 1926, in Morris, she was the daughter of Louis and Elsie (Hart) Brown. She received her education in Morris and graduated from Morris High School with the class of 1944.  She married George Hall on November 30, 1946, at the First Baptist Church of Morris.

She was employed by the offices of the Federal Paper Board Company for 29 years, 23 in Morris and 6 in Elkhart, IN, retiring in 1986.

Verneda was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Morris and served in many areas of ministry there.  She enjoyed music, bowling, fishing, watching the Chicago Cubs and spending time with family and friends.  She had a talent for making beautiful handmade gifts for loved ones.

Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Greenhill of Morehead, KY, and Debra (James) Gonnam of Verona; three grandsons, Michael Jones, Jay (Mark Sakalares) Gonnam, and Joseph (Jennifer) Gonnam; six great grandchildren, Macy, Miley, and Mallory Jones and Joshua, Jaden, and Jordyn Gonnam.

Preceding her in death were her parents; loving husband of 68 years, George, in 2015; one grandson, Jeffrey Gonnam; son-in-law, Donald Greenhill, Sr.; two sisters, Louise Hill and Jeanne Hendrickson; two brothers, Robert and Harold Brown.

The family would like to thank the staff of The Gardens and Vitas Hospice for the loving care they provided.

Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church, 1650 W. Rt. 6, Morris, IL or to The Gardens Activity Fund, 1550 Dupont Ave., Morris, IL.

A private family service will be held, followed by burial at Evergreen Cemetery.  Pastor Steve Larson will officiate the graveside service.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Fred C. Dames Funeral Home.
