Obituary of Scott Robert Stukel

Scott Robert Stukel, age 54, of Crest Hill, and a lifelong Joliet area resident, passed away Monday, February 8, 2021 at Amita Health St. Joseph Medical Center Joliet, from COVID 19.

Born December 7, 1966 in Joliet, he was the son of Robert J. and Jacqueline (Rogers) Stukel.

Scott was a 1985 graduate of Joliet West High School and received his Associate’s degree from Joliet Junior College.  In 2005, he completed the requirements to become a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer, and pursued that profession with a passion.  In 2009, he received a Master’s of Business Administration from Lewis University.

Those who knew Scott well, knew that he struggled with depression for the majority of his life. Not too long before his passing, he was able to truly successfully deal with his inner demons and really began to live, what his family and friends believed, was his true and authentic life.  Scott was not a religious person, but he was a thoughtful and emotional man who was a prolific writer and used his journals to record and share his journey through life.  He loved the gym, music, and playing his guitar.

Surviving are his loving daughter, Alita Stukel; his father, Robert Stukel; one sister, Kim (Scott) Libersher; two brothers, Jeff (Sandra) Stukel and Tom (Lisa) Stukel; and many nieces and nephews.  His mother, Jacqueline, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2021.

A visitation for Scott and his mother, Jacqueline, will be held Wednesday, June 23, 2021 from 8:30 to 10:15 a.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, (at Essington Road), Joliet.  Funeral services will be held Wednesday, at 10:15a.m. from the funeral home to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 416 N. Chicago Street, Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
