Lynda Wood

Obituary of Lynda G. Wood

Lynda Gayle Wood, age 76, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, in her home surrounded, by many loved ones, cracking jokes, and watching her favorite animal shows. She was a beautiful soul that immersed herself in her family, love for animals, travels, and wonderful taste in art. She was raised in part by Lloyd Gail Thomas Sr. and Corinne Thomas, who surrounded her with love and warmth. Her strong personality led her to successfully managing casino operations in the quad cities for 5 years.

Lynda met the love of her life, Rex, in Rochelle Illinois, where they lived for 14 years. They continued on to live in several places all over the US, crafting a new adventure each time. They enjoyed traveling the world together and in these travels, she was often seen spreading her infectious smile with many new friends made along the way. Her unique taste in art and love for her Jewish faith is seen in the many works she collected from all over, each with a unique story of how it caught her eye. Immensely proud of her Jewish name, Emunah Ahuva, she took her pilgrimage to New York and Jerusalem to strengthen her faith. She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild. She surrounded them with love, affection, and her quick wit. Her love for animals led her to manage an animal wildlife rescue, often bringing many furry friends home to foster back to health. Rex and Lynda had an exuberant love that filled the memories of anyone who met them. She will be greatly missed and forever cherished.

She is preceded in death by her parents L. Gail Thomas Jr. and Milly Thomas and daughter Sharron Wildey.

Lynda leaves behind her adoring husband, Rex Wood; daughters, Stacey (Michael) Veseling, Shalene (Chris) Lyons, and Jae (Chuck) Gillispie; son, Justin Wood; grandchildren, Jacob (Natalie) Jenkins, Jordyn (Rich) Miller, Rachel (Chris) Bockrath, Sydnee Gillispie, and Aidan Veseling; and her beautiful great-granddaughter, Lylah Jenkins. She also leaves behind her sisters, Patti Jo Watters, Darcey (John) Schlieben, and Jean (Jim) Crouch; along with several loving nieces and nephews.
