Obituary of Delores M. Ewing

Age 92, a lifelong area resident, passed away suddenly, Sunday, February 14, 2021.  She was born August 17, 1928, the daughter of Helen (nee Sgerm) and John Kochevar.  Dee was a graduate of Joliet Township High School with the class of 1946.  She began working at Gerlach Barklow Co. and many years later retired from Caterpillar Tractor Co, Inc.

Survived by her daughter Cheryl (Rick) Rogowski of Joliet and son Michael Hanko of Colorado; grandchildren, Michael, Stephanie and Kris all of Colorado; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Lou) Clavenna and numerous nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are her step-children, Dan Ewing of Joliet, Dave (Jean) Ewing of Channahon, Paul Ewing of Englewood, FL, Bill (Joyce) Ewing of Braidwood, Liz (Rick) Abel of Lindenhurst, IL as well as several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles R. Ewing (2014), her parents; one brother, John Kochevar; two nephews, Sonny and Bill Kochevar and her step-son, Charles R. Ewing, Jr.

She was an avid history buff and loved music - Band concerts in the park, Drum & Bugle Corps, stage productions, polkas and dixieland. She was also an animal lover. 

Dee and Chuck spent many years boating on Lake Michigan and were members of the United States Power Squadron.

 All friends and relatives are invited to attend Dee’s Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, February 22, 2021, 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church 416 N. Chicago St. Joliet.  Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers donations in her name to St. Judes Children's Hospital or the Will County Humane Society would be appreciated.
