Alyce Fahrner

Obituary of Alyce T. Fahrner

At age 95, Alyce Fahrner passed away peacefully at Joliet Hospice House on February 16, 2021. Alyce was born June 27, 1925 in Joliet to John and Mary (Lynch) Connelly.

Alyce was raised in Joliet and met her husband Dr. F. Roger Fahrner at “JT “. They were married and raised four children- Craig, Missy, Rob, and Dan. She was a longtime member of St. Raymond parish and volunteered and served in many organizations. Among her favorites were the St. Raymond’s Woman Club, the V & A Society, St. Patrick’s Retirement Guild and the “Red Hats”. Alyce was thrilled to see her many nieces and nephews that traveled to celebrate her 90th birthday, each leaving a card with a personal memory of her. Those cards were the flowers in her life. Always proud of her Irish heritage, we’re sure she will hear bagpipes playing at Heaven’s gate.

Alyce was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dr. Roger Fahrner, her son Craig J. Fahrner, 4 sisters, Mary Rausch, Eileen Wold, Coletta Wright, and Patricia Slattery and 2 brothers, Walter Connelly and John Connelly.

Alyce is survived by her daughter Missy (Ron) Ausec and sons Robert Fahrner and Daniel (Jane) Fahrner.

Also surviving are Grandsons Patrick, Brian, and Kevin Fahrner and David Sandberg; granddaughters Dr. Alison Sandberg Kehl, Jennifer, Callie, and Meggie Fahrner. Alyce also had five great-grandchildren: Jude, Jocelyn, and Jackson Fahrner as well as Lindsay and Lucy Kehl. She was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews that considered her their favorite aunt.
