Obituary of Alice Goldhaber
Alice Goldhaber
Age 79, beloved wife of fondly remembered Dr. Samuel Goldhaber. Alice is survived by her children Mark Goldhaber and his wife Susan and Ruth Wurzburg and her husband Richard and her four grandchildren, Benjamin, Jeff, Rachel and Robert with whom she shared very special and unusually close relationships. A resident of Joliet for nearly 60 years, her proudest accomplishments were those of her children and grandchildren and her commitment to friends and family. Alice, an Auschwitz survivor along with her beloved brother Oscar, was active in numerous Jewish causes and in many local charities, including the Will Grundy Free Clinic, Joliet Jewish Congregation, Sisterhood, Hadassah and St. Joseph and Silver Cross Medical Auxiliaries. Proud of her American citizenship, she in later years devoted significant efforts helping to ensure that the Holocaust and her experiences in the Concentration Camps were remembered and not repeated.
The care and compassion shown to Alice by Drs. Hindo, Sosenko and Cziterle as well as the staff of St. Joseph Medical Center will always be remembered by her family.
