Dolores Tracy

Obituary of Dolores G. Tracy

“Give them a kiss and hug for me”

Dolores Tracy, or more happily known as Grandma or GG, passed away on March 29, 2021. If you were fortunate to know her, you knew a warm soul who was always happy to listen to a story and grab a deck of cards and deal you in. She loved breakfast at small diners, classic movies and musicals, and every dog that has ever walked the earth.  Dolores was born in Chicago on June 30, 1940, to the late Albert and Charlotte (nee Kowalski) Smith. She had two siblings, Laverne (Jack) Zugenbuehler, and Albert (Pat) Klucinski, both of whom preceded her in death.

Before her youth escaped her, she married Edgar Tracy, inheriting a wonderful son Johnny (Cindi) Tracy, who currently resides in Missouri. Dolores and Edgar shared 40 years together before he preceded her in death and she was able to finally get rid of that Cubs hat.

She always said the best thing Edgar ever gave to her was her girls, Denise (Gino) Marchetti, of Willowbrook, and Darlene (Rich) Smets, of Minooka. She was wrong. The best things that really ever happened to her were her grandchildren, Jessica (Eric) Buhle, and Gina Marchetti, and her great-grandson, Declan. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
If you had an afternoon to chat with her, she was always a listening ear, sympathetic, and a great friend. She would also likely pull out her phone or her photo book of Declan and show you all the recent pictures she had of him.

And you knew if you were on the phone with her and she wasn’t there, without a doubt, she would tell you to give everyone else in your household a kiss and hug from her.

Funeral Services for Dolores will be held privately by the family.  As it was Dolores’ wish, cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials in her name may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
