Genevieve E. Houck

Age 86, of Sarasota, Florida and Joliet, Illinois passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Tidewell Hospice Home of Port Charlotte, Florida.

She was born December 30, 1934 to Magdalena and Stephan Klimek in Joliet where she was raised and educated.  Gen served as an executive secretary for the Joliet Area Chamber of Commerce for many years and while she lived in South Holland, Illinois worked at Honeywell and Metallurg/Shield Alloy Corp.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Hertko, her second husband, Ralph Houck; siblings, Helen Ward, Phyllis Klimek, Joseph Klimek, David Klimek, Mark Klimek, Al Klimek and Michael Klimek.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Although Joliet was always home for Gen, she truly enjoyed her retirement years in Florida.

Funeral services were held privately at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Crest Hill, Illinois with Interment at St. Cyril Cemetery in Joliet.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name can be made to the American Cancer Society.
